I got Invisalign 2 months ago. Every time I put on a new set of aligners they only stay clear for about a week. I have 2 friends that have Invisalign and they are not having these problems. I take the aligners out when I eat. After that I rinse my mouth, rinse the aligners, floss and brush my teeth, and brush the aligners with toothpaste and a separate toothbrush. I am very careful about oral hygiene. I am beginning to wonder if my dentist has given me a cheap imitation of Invisalign, but charging me like I got the real thing. T.C.
T.C. – There is a way to identify the maker of your aligners. Look closely at the biting surface of each tray. If you have Invisalign aligners, you will find a trademarked name, your patient ID number, a designation for upper for lower aligners, and other information.
There is a more likely cause to the problem with your aligners, though. Toothpaste can be abrasive. If you are brushing your aligners with toothpaste, they can become cloudy and scratch easily. As an alternative, you can use the Invisalign Cleaning System, or you can rinse and brush the aligners, but without using toothpaste.
If you have specific concerns about keeping your aligners clean, speak with your dentist.
