For health reasons I am no longer able to work full time. I am looking for work that I can do at home. My husband works but our dental coverage was through my job. There is no way we can afford COBRA coverage. My dentist is very kind about it but really is not willing to work much with patients who don’t have dental insurance and cannot pay up front. I am trying to think of ways that we can save money on dental care or ways to find discounts. Please let me know if you have suggestions. Thanks. Dana
Dana – One suggestion is to ensure that every family member is diligent in maintaining good oral hygiene. Flossing your teeth, in addition to brushing them, is vital to removing bacteria-causing debris from between your teeth and gums. Keep your regularly scheduled cleaning appointments, if possible.
Some dentists offer in-office plans that are not dental insurance, but provide discounts on services. You can check for dentists in your area who offer these plans. There is an annual fee involved for each family member, but it can help make dental care more affordable for you. You can also find a dentist who offers payment plans to help make any major treatment needed more affordable for your family.
