Chipped tooth embedded in lip? No insurance.

I play soccer on Friday nights and two Fridays ago me and one of my teammates ran into each other. My right tooth next to the front tooth jammed into my lip pretty deep and my lip was bleeding really bad. Part of my tooth chipped too. My lip is still kind of swollen and there is a hard lump on the inside where my tooth hit it. I am wondering if the chipped part of my tooth is somehow stuck in my lip. Should I leave it alone or see a doctor? I lost my job in August so I don’t have insurance. I have just been doing temp work and odd jobs until I find something permanent with benefits. If there is something I can do at home to tell if my tooth is in my lip please let me know. – Jamison

Jamison – Make an appointment with a dentist. A dentist needs to examine your lip and tooth. There is nothing you can do at home to make that determination.

Don’t worry about not having dental insurance. Many dentists offer payment plans or in-office discount plans to make the treatment affordable for you.

When it’s within your budget, a cosmetic dentist will be able to use dental bonding to match your tooth and fill in the missing space that chipped off.
