Hi. When I had a job I was able to go to the dentist. I was just about to get work done on a tooth with a bad cavity when I lost my job last December. The COBRA coverage for dental was way too expensive for me. I was hoping to have a permanent job my now but all I have is a temp job. It seems to be steady but I don’t have dental insurance or any other insurance at all. Although my tooth doesn’t hurt as bad as it looks, it smells horrible and it’s making my breath smell too. What can I do at home to keep the tooth from smelling so bad? Thank YOU Curtis
Curtis – The decay in your tooth need to be removed by a dentist. The dentist needs to examine the tooth and determine if it is really dead. It is possible that the cavity needs to be filled, or it may be possible to preserve your tooth with a porcelain crown.
What you can do is find a dentist who offers payment plans or a discount dental plan. You will be able to afford your treatment, even though you don’t have dental insurance.
Removing the decay is important. If it’s not removed an infection can result that will spread into your jawbone and beyond. Removing the infection will be even more costly, so get the cavity treated right away.
