If I have a lot of teeth missing which is better, a snap on smile or dentures? Also which will look better? Thank you. Donna
Donna – If you have several teeth missing, you may not need dentures at all. And a Snap-On Smile is not the right option either. Let us explain.
When several teeth are missing, you likely want a permanent solution. The best solution to replace missing teeth is dental implants. They look and feel like natural teeth, but they are also the most expensive form of tooth replacement.
Another option to replace missing teeth is a dental bridge. A replacement tooth is suspended between two dental crowns (often called caps). The crowns are placed over the teeth on either side of the missing one. Your natural teeth will have to be prepared to accommodate the crowns. It is possible to receive a bridge that is supported by dental implants.
A partial denture can replace missing teeth. It can also be supported by dental implants.
Complete dentures are only needed when all of your teeth are missing. They too, can be supported, or stabilized, by dental implants.
A Snap-On Smile fits over your natural teeth. It is a temporary means of giving you a new smile. People wear it for special occasions, or while they are waiting for permanent tooth restoration. If you wear it every day, it will wear out quickly, and you will need another one. Because it fits over your own teeth, it can look bulky.
Find a dentist in your area who has an artistic eye and experience in cosmetic dentistry. Request a consultation with him or her. You can ask questions and find out your treatment options for replacing your missing teeth with natural-looking restorations.
